Leigh was born in 1965 in
Peterborough Ontario and raised nearby in the town of Bewdley.
As a youngster, she spent a lot of time at the dentist and
although she didn’t like the needle that sat in the blue
container of liquid that tasted bad, she did like the idea of
becoming the girl that helped the dentist. As the
granddaughter of a local potato farmer, Leigh learned at an
early age that one had to “dig deep to get to the root,
that’s where success begins”.
In 1983 she ventured to the big smoke as a student of the Dental
Assisting Program at George Brown College. With time,
Leigh adjusted to city life, graduated, secured her first
position and began her career in the dental sector. For
the first 18 years Leigh worked cheek to cheek and knee to knee
with Dr. Allan Fox, a dedicated Dentist and wonderful mentor.
With the natural progression of dentistry, it became apparent
that more time was needed to be spent educating the patient;
thus the creation of the Treatment Coordinator position.
Leigh was the natural fit within her practice.
Leigh has been the Office Manager and Treatment Coordinator
within her multi-dental practice for 10 years. During
these 10 years Leigh developed and implemented the Treatment
Process time and time again, continually making changes and
improving where needed. This is the process that she will
deliver to you today, the 5 Steps to Success.
Leigh always says “I don’t sell treatment. I educate the
patient so that they can make an informed decision about their
dental care”.
23 years of experience, a sense of humour and an unsurpassed
passion for dentistry make up who Leigh Gowland is today , the
industry’s leader in all aspects of Treatment Coordination.
